1) What is a “Care Zone”?
A Care Zone is a personalised webpage specifically created for a “Person in Need”. It is a place where friends and family post information and organise support which saves time and reduces stress. The Care Zone is a secure, password-protected online environment where all interaction takes place using the various tools and functions of the website. Search engines (eg Yahoo and Google) cannot access Care Zones. Read on to learn about the people who use a Care Zone.

There are 3 types of users on the website. They are Care Guides, Carers and Visitors

2) What is a “Care Guide?”

If you want to help people in need, are interested in helping people to recover from a trauma both emotionally and physically, you have all the attributes to be a “Care Guide”.

A Care Guide is a person who is referred to as the “designated contact person”.

This person could be a relative or close friend of the person in need. They should be the person who receives information from hospital staff or others (ie social workers, chaplain, police or Government agencies). A Care Guide may also be a member of a club/organisation, school teacher, etc. A Care Guide can invite “Carers” to a “Care Zone” and send out “Critical Updates” to keep other “Carers” informed.
3) What is a “Carer?”
A “Carer” is a person who has been invited via email to a “Care Zone” for the purpose of providing support to the Person in Need. Carers need to register their details before being granted access. They can complete jobs/tasks and leave comments of support which save time and reduce stress. They can also help spread the word to others about the person in need and invite other Carers to the Care Zone via forwarding their invitation email. A Care Guide oversees the activities of the Carers and ensures any disruptive behaviour is controlled. Carers will be the receivers of “SMS Critical Updates” whenever a Care Guide sends one.
4) What is a “Visitor?”
A “Visitor” is a user of the website who has not registered as a Care Guide or Carer. They have limited access to the website and cannot interact, access or view any Care Zones. Visitors can view the “Public Zone” and the website’s home page content only.
5) What tools are in the “Care Zone?”
  • 5.1) Give me an update! – Allows Carers to subscribe to SMS “Critical Updates” regarding the situation of the person in need. Critical Updates are sent by the Care Guide. A Critical Update is a unique feature of this site. Carers can elect to receive these informative messages about the person they are caring for. These messages are sent on an “as required basis” to a Carer’s mobile phone. There could be any number of Carers receiving a particular Critical Update. Some big Care Zones may have 100+ Carers participating in a Zone and who have subscribed to the Critical Update service. A Care Guide is the only person able to send out a Critical Update. The Carer receiving the update is charged $1.50 inc GST per message. The Carer can reply to this update and their reply is posted on the Care Zone under the “What have people said?” section. A reply costs 25¢ inc GST.
  • 5.2) What can I do? – Care Guides and Carers can suggest jobs to help the person in need. Items can be added and modified by any Care Guide or Carer. Care Guides and Carers can assign jobs to themselves. Once the job is done, the status can be changed to “completed”. This is a very helpful tool on the website. It provides practical ways for Carers to help.
  • 5.3) Care Planner – An interactive calendar that allows important events to be entered and viewed by Care Guides and Carers. Here you will help organise a gathering or visit and enter a birthday or appointment. The importance of the event can be specified and easily viewed. Any event can be entered on the Care Planner.
  • 5.4) What have people said? – Comments about how Care Guides and Carers are feeling in regard to the situation can be placed here. This allows interaction and discussions to take place. Critical Updates that have been sent to mobile phones can also be viewed here. Carers and Care Guides will regularly view this area to see what people have said. Items that have been placed on the “What can I do?” list and the “Care Planner” can be discussed in this area. These comments can be viewed, printed and given to the Person in Need, allowing them to see the great network of support that exists.
  • 5.5) Make a donation – A Care Guide has the option to setup a bopo debit card by clicking on the “receive donation$” button and following the instructions. bopo is Australia's first general purpose Prepaid Visa Card. It offers all the convenience of a Visa card, but because it's prepaid, you can only spend the money you put onto it!

This is not a service governed by the imthinkingofyou.com.au website. Terms and conditions for bobo are available on the bopo.com.au website.
